Getting to Know Sting Soccer Players – From the Desk of Brent Coralli

Whether it’s been in blogs appearing on BrentCoralli.com, Sting or VOLA blogs or the “From the Desk of Brent Coralli” blogs, I’ve provided a look inside Sting Soccer. Our core values, how we operate, and what we hope our players ‘get’ from their Sting experience.

What we haven’t done is get a clear idea of what our Sting players are like. I am so proud of our girls. Not just for their accomplishments on the field, but for the growth and maturation we see off the field – - becoming strong, young women.

If we were to take a snapshot of our N. Texas Group, say our 14 year olds up to our 18 year olds, we have over 30 teams – - more than 500 girls who are committed to practice between two to three times a week (depending on their age); with a typical practice taking place after school and lasting one to three hours.

During the 2013-2014 season, these girls travelled to Orlando, Washington, DC, San Diego, Seattle and Kansas City, to name a few and earned such accolades like Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) Finalist, Disney Showcase Finalist, and North Texas Soccer (NTX) State Cup Champions.

This success on the field does not come at the expense of off the field. The concept of ‘Education Through Soccer’ is something that has proven to be extremely important to the young women who play for our club. Life after soccer means getting a good education and a fulfilling life. Colleges and employers seek former athletes because they possess the skills companies want – teamwork, analytical thinking, competitiveness and drive.

But what do our girls think?  Take a look at the comments below and you’ll see answers to such questions as:

  • What are your aspirations after Sting?
  • What song do you listen to before the start of a game?
